WILLIE LOCO ALEXANDER
"Dirty Eddie"/"She Wanted Me" (Somor Records) $25
This 1978 single (released as Willie Loco) by Boston's legendary Willie Alexander and his Boom Boom Band turned out to be the last great gasp of the artist's early garage ga-ga. Released shortly after Willie's first badly over-produced MCA LP, these are outtakes from those sessions deemed far too raw for general consumption. So, Willie released it himself in small quantities, and it quickly disappeared. This completed the great Loco 7-inch trilogy that began with "Kerouac"/"Mass. Ave." in '75 and continued in late '76 on "Hit Her Wid De Axe"/"You Looked So Pretty When." Highly recommended to diggers of the early American (pre-)punk thing.

VINYL EXCELLENT & SLEEVE EXCELLENT

WILLIE LOCO ALEXANDER
"You Got a Hard Time Coming"/"Larry Bird" (Stanton Park Records) $7

ANGEL CORPUS CHRISTI
"Pull Girl"/"Ruff Tuff Creme Puff (Angel's Theme Song)" (a&r/ENT) $10
1992 slice of accordion-pop shake appeal from Angel Corpus Christi (a.k.a. Andrea Ross, longtime MX-80 co-conspirator and wife of Rich Stim). The A-side is a nice piece of mutant bubblegum erotica, like Veronica Lodge fronting Suicide. Do the pony. On the flip, the queen tells her life story, with a drivin' "Stepping Stone"-like accordion riff, and even makes an MC5 reference. Tasty. Rich Stim co-wrote the songs and plays guitar. Nancy Kravitz is on the bass.

NEW, UNPLAYED
ANGEL CORPUS CHRISTI
"Big Black Cloud"/"Down" (a&r/ENT) $10
When I was a teenage Gizmo, in Bloomington 1977, Angel sez to me: "Will you autograph my body?" Would I! An arm only-- (sigh) But then, MX-80's Rich Stim (Mr. Corpus Christi) was there too. On this 1992 release, Angel insinuates rosy all over the groovy downer-beat of "Big Black Cloud," and then takes us to accordion-pop heaven with "Down." Mr. Stim co-wrote the tunes and plays guitar. Pressed on sad-happy blue vinyl.

NEW, UNPLAYED
ANGEL CORPUS CHRISTI
"Surfer Girl"/"Pull Girl" (The Next Big Thing; Scotland) $10
"Promo-only" single released by Lindsay Hutton of The Next Big Thing fanzine. With Angel's avant-bubblegum accordion-pop classic "Pull Girl" acting as the flip side to a sad-moody-pretty instrumental version of Brian Wilson's "Surfer Girl." With MX-80's Rich Stim on guitar.

NEW, UNPLAYED
ANGEL CORPUS CHRISTI + DEAN WAREHAM
"Je T'aime (I Wanna Boogie With You)"/"Wild Bill" (Munster Records; Spain) $10
Angel and Dean Wareham perform a strange dub-wavy accordion-groovin' medley of Serge Gainsbourg and Lou Reed on the A-side, and then the ACC band (sans Wareham) rock it instrumentally on the flip side (co-writ, as usual, by MX-80's Rich Stim, hubby of ACC).

NEW, UNPLAYED
ANGEL CORPUS CHRISTI/MAGIC DIRT (split)
"Sleeping With The TV On"/"Kick Out the Jams" (The Next Big Thing; Scotland) $10
Split single released by Lindsay Hutton's The Next Big Thing fanzine in 1997 for the zine's twentieth anniversary issue. Angel Corpus Christi applies her trademark accordion-pop to an instrumental version of the Dictators' "Sleeping With the TV On" (also released on DFFD Vol.2,a Dictators tribute album). On the flip, Australian rockers Magic Dirt do a straight take of the MC5 anthem.

NEW, UNPLAYED
ANTISEEN
Blood of Freaks (Ajax Records) $18
1988 release from North Carolina's darlings of pure punk roar. Includes four tunes: "Up All Night," "Hippie Punk," "I Wish I Had Killed You When I Had the Chance," and "I Don't Need You." With lyric sheet for "Hippie Punk."
