THE GROUPIE PHENOMENON
paperback book $18 Written by Ethan Arbogast. Published in 1969 by Viceroy Books of Canoga Park, California. 191 pages. You must be at least 18 years old to purchase this item. This is a fictionalized, sexually explicit "exposé" of the late 60s groupie scene--text only, no photos or illustrations except for the front cover. From the back-cover blurb: "The screaming fans, the ear-shattering music of the NOW GENERATION, adolescents in a frenzy among the psychedelic lights and crowds . . . where is it leading? What's behind the scenes? The Groupie Phenomenon explores the rise of a new cult within a cult: the hero-worshipping girls who follow their idols from concert to concert and hotel to hotel . . . This is the true story of the GROUPIE . . . The parties, the performances, the pot . . . "
